Some 2,000 ethnic Albanians gathered to protest in the Macedonian town of Tetovo on Thursday, said reports. They demanded that Hague war crimes indictee and former member of the so-called Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) Ramush Haradinaj be released from custody., and expressed conviction that he was innocent. Macedonia: Rally in support of Haradinaj The rally was sponsored by Tetovo Mayor Sadi Bedzeti, who is a member of the opposition Democratic Party of Albanians. The gathering was organized by 40 NGOs and the Islamic Community of Macedonia. A Macedonian government commission for religious relations said that the community was breaking the law by "interfering". Haradinaj is facing a partial retrial at the Hague Tribunal. He was initially acquitted of all charges related to 1998 murders, kidnappings, torture and rape of Serbs, Romas and ethnic Albanians in Kosovo. But the retrial was ordered after the court determined there were irregularities, including witness intimidation. Haradinaj was arrested in Pristina in July and is currently in custody at the Hague.
