Montenegro has started making payments to Croatians over the 1991 war damages, Podgorica-based daily Vijesti writes. The Montenegrin government reached an out-of-court settlement with a resident of Dubrovnik, Croatia, and paid them EUR 30,000 for a small boat that was stolen from nearby Cavtat in 1991. Montenegro pays 1991 damages The 10-meter boat was taken by Montenegrin reserve soldiers who took part in the conflict in Croatia's Konavle region. However, the current Montenegrin owner of the boat bought it legally from the Montenegrin Ministry of Transport, and legal experts say he could now sue the state for selling him stolen goods. Croatia says that during the war in the area in 1991 and 1992, some 336 vessels were either stolen, destroyed, or damaged.
