Citizens of Podgorica and 13 Montenegrin municipalities will be choosing their local leaders in elections on Sunday. The polling stations will be open from 8:00 to 21:00 CET. Local elections begin in Montenegro The capital city of Podgorica has 135,000 registered voters. The main rivals in the elections are the coalition of the ruling Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), the Liberal Party, the Bosniak Party and the opposition bloc, made up of the New Serbian Democracy, Socialist National Party and the Movement for Change. DPS and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) will be participating together in nine municipalities. For the first time in Montenegro, the elections will not be monitored by international observers or non-governmental organizations.
