Deputy Speaker of the Russian State Duma Aleksandr Babakov stated in Banja Luka that the Dayton Agreement should be upheld and protected from any changes. “Bosnia-Herzegovina should function on the basis of the Dayton Peace Accords, and those who participated in its implementation and development should now do a detailed analysis of the present condition, and if positive trends in this sense are visible, is implementation should continue,” he told the press. The deputy Duma speaker said that he thinks that imposed laws by the High Representative in Bosnia-Herzegovina should be condemned if they are not envisioned by the Dayton Agreement. Speaking on economic cooperation with RS, he stressed that Russia is trying to expand economic cooperation with Bosnia-Herzegovina. “With the current cooperation and further development of these relations, we will do everything to expand this cooperation to other areas, including humanitarian sectors,” Babakov stated. Dodik said at a press conference that the RS is planning on expanding cooperation with Russia in the energy field by constructing a gas pipeline through RS and hydro and thermal energy plants, along with the Russian INTER RAO company. He stressed that the RS has had significant cooperation with the Russian Federation, which primarily reflected in economic relations, especially in the field of energy.
