Skopje today officially announced its top state officials have agreed on a platform for upcoming talks with Greece. No further details were available in the Macedonian capital today, when President Branko Crvenkovski, Prime Minster Nikola Grueski and Foreign Minister Antonio Miloshoski met to agree on a strategy for negotiations with Greece. Macedonia adopts platform for name talks "Our position is clear, our arguments are strong, and I will travel to New York with clear instructions," chief Macedonian negotiator Nikola Dimitrov was quoted Sunday. The new round of talks has been scheduled for Tuesday. Yesterday, Miloshoski was cited by media in Macedonia as saying said that the U.S. "came up with new ideas for overcoming of the name differences at the Macedonia-Greece talks in Brussels". Neither the Macedonian nor the Greek side revealed any details on the ideas put forward by Daniel Fried, the U.S. Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs at the meeting, Makfax news agency said. After the talks, Miloshoski said that Macedonia wants to "remain constructively involved in process of resolving of the name dispute with Greece". "Our aim is, because we have fulfilled all relevant criteria, that Macedonia should be part of NATO," Macedonian Foreign Minister said. Greece has threatened to block Macedonia's NATO membership at the upcoming Bucharest summit of the Alliance unless that country agrees to change its constitutional name.
