Thaci: Missing persons are wound which must be closed

According to Thaci, "the resolving of the fate of the missing is one of the most urgent and most important tasks of all."

“The war has left many wounds, but the one of the missing is one of the most severe burdens the families of the missing persons but also the whole society, the relations between the communities and the chances for a better future," he stated, adding:

“It is an urgent necessity, humanitarian duty, obligation of all to clear up as soon as possible the fate of all the missing persons, regardless of their ethnicity."

Not a day goes by, continued Thaci, "that we don't remember their faces."

“They look at us from the pictures hanging on the fence of the Assembly of Kosovo. Families call us. They are being reminded by the memorials we see on the streets of Kosovo. And, on days like August 30, we commit ourselves to always, uninterrupted, ask and insist to clear up the fate of every citizen of Kosovo as soon as possible, for the families of the missing to find their peace," said he.

Finally, Thaci stated that “these pains that the war has caused are exactly our motivation to work, not to allow the war to be repeated but to always have peace, reconciliation and cooperation among all communities."
