"We once again bow to the heroes who gave their lives for Serbia and we will never forget what they did for their country and nation," Stefanovic said, laying a wreath at a memorial plaque on the Interior Ministry (MUP) building in Belgrade's Kneza Milosa Street.

Stefanovic said that 167 policemen gave their lives, demonstrating how Serbia should be loved and that they were willing to make the greatest sacrifice, and that, he noted, is something that Serbia must never forget.

Bombs kept falling on Serbia for 77 days and the policemen had no right to be cowards, but only to be brave, and that is how they acted, Stefanovic told reporters, noting that their families must not be forgotten either.

Yet, on this day, we must look to the future together, Stefanovic said.
