PM: No change in Serbia's policy in wake of attacks in Paris

Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic says Serbia has taken additional security measures in the wake of the Paris attacks, "but will not change the current policy."

"That is the best protection against any irresponsible move, although one can never have one hundred percent influence on it," he told reporters, according to Tanjug.

Vucic added he was "proud of the fact nobody in Serbia attacked citizens of Muslim faith, their stores, bakeries," and that if such a thing occurred, it would be "severely sanctioned."

"Serbia has managed to ensure peace and security," said Vucic.

Asked about the security situation, considering that one of the suspected terrorists in Paris passed through Serbia using the migrant route, Vucic responded by saying that "490,000 migrants passed through Serbia."

"Some of the terrorists are from Paris," he added, and asked "whether this means no one should go to that city ever again."

"The cure and the best defense for all of us is to, instead of pumping muscles and bragging that we're ready for anything, protect ourselves from their hatred and send messages of peace," said Vucic.

He noted that he "cannot understand" the question regarding the terrorists who arrived in Paris as a migrant, and asked, "what's that supposed to mean, should we start beating up children?"

"Our policy has not created problems for us so far and we will not change it, but we will know how to protect our national interests. We will monitor the situation on the ground and react in accordance with what is going on," Vucic concluded.
