Serbian foreign minister visits Armenia

Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Mrkić has arrived in Yerevan where he will confer with Armenian top officials over the next two days.

Serbian foreign minister visits Armenia

In the course of the day, Mrkić will have meetings with Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan and Parliament Speaker Ovik Abramian.

Mrkić will also visit the Armenian genocide memorial where Turks committed genocide against over 1 million Armenian citizens during the time of the Ottoman Empire in 1915.

Ankara is denying the genocide and the French Senate adopted a law in 2012 whereby anyone denying genocide against the Armenian people is liable to punishment.

On Tuesday, Mrkić will attend the opening of the Serbian-Armenian Business Forum which aims to intensify the two countries' relations.

The Forum is organized by the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and the Armenian Development Agency and it will be attended by Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS)President Željko Sertić.

At the conclusion of his visit, Mrkić will meet with Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II and he should also visit the central cathedral church and the Treasury.

Within his stay in Armenia, Mrkić will also visit the Institute of Ancient Manuscripts.
