BELGRADE Deputy PM Aleksandar Vucic on Monday "thanked Serbs in Kosovska Mitrovica for voting in the repeated local elections in large numbers," Tanjug reported. He also announced that Belgrade "will call on Brussels to reply to the question as to who is behind the decision that the ballots should be counted outside Kosovska Mitrovica as there were no incidents and no reason to make such a decision." Deputy PM asks why ballots were counted outside KM Vucic said that "30.46 percent of registered voters cast their ballots the repeated local elections in Kosovska Mitrovica on Sunday, and that 35 percent of the voters took part in the polls for the Serbian president in 2012." "What we cannot understand is the reason why OSCE took the bags with the ballots to Kosovo Polje," Vucic said and added that "this is not done in democratic countries and therefore cannot be understood." He noted that no polling place was in jeopardy at any point. According to Vucic, the decision to take the bags with the ballots to Kosovo Polje was made by OSCE and not by the Kosovo Central Electoral Commission. “We are asking OSCE to explain what democratic principles they were following when they made the decision, what the purpose of taking the bags with ballots to Kosovo Polje was and who is behind the decision, and we will ask this question during the talks in Brussels,” Vucic said.
