The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) wants Serbia to get a strong, efficient and dynamic government and it will negotiate the forming of such reform government. The party has announced that the new government needs to lead the country toward the EU membership much faster than it has been done so far, to solve political challenges and implement efficient and fair economic reforms by strengthening the market economy. LDP elaborates position on Kosovo, Serb Republic The LDP noted that the new government would have to solve all disputable issues with respect of political differences. In a statement for media, the party noted that it believed that future directions in the European, internal and so-called national policy were linked to the economic and social policy. “There are no successful European integrations without a concrete and responsible policy toward Kosovo and the region, just like no improvement in the economic and social policy can happen without building efficient institutions and the rule of law, accepting the EU values and changes of the existing political, social and economic model,” the LDP stressed in the release. The LDP’s position on Kosovo’s independence is the same as the one the party publicly presented at the Serbian parliament session when the independence was declared in 2008. “We still believe that the independence which was declared that way did not bring any solution in deeply disrupted relations between Belgrade and Pristina, Serbs and Albanians, just like we believe today that the life-obstructing policy in Kosovo and being slaves of abused national myths, which has been led by Belgrade for a long time, needs to change and focus on the dialogue and much more concrete solving of issues of Serbs in Kosovo and all citizens living there,” the party noted. Nobody is setting the issue of recognition of Kosovo’s independence before Serbia at the moment, reads the release. The LDP pointed out that “if the question is raised, parties or the government will not be able to give an answer, it is the question that the entire society will answer”. In any case, “we will come out with a clear policy that will take care of Serbia’s interests, the importance of Kosovo for the Serbian people and the Kosovo Serbs’ interest but also interests of Kosovo Albanians that those Serbs live with and depend on,” the LDP said. The party insists on urgent continuation of the negotiations with Pristina, full implementation of all agreements that have been reached so far in Brussels and on the solving of the remaining issues with the help from the EU. “We are convinced that our country’s European integrations can be used as a mechanism that will fix the relations with Pristina,” the LDP explained. When it comes to relations with the Republic of Srpska (RS), the LDP is dedicated to the stability of the region. The LDP attaches special importance to building much better internal relations in Bosnia-Herzegovina with respect of all guarantees provided by the Dayton Accords to all citizens, peoples and entities, reads the release. “We do not accept the idea that survival of the RS and transformation of the entire Bosnia-Herzegovina into a normal European 21st century country are conflicting and that they are mutually exclusive,” the LDP said. This is precisely why a better future for the Serbian people, but also for all other peoples in the RS and Bosnia-Herzegovina, must not be built on the denial of crimes and relativization of verdicts of international courts, and it cannot be based on predominance of any side in the future internal relations in Bosnia as some kind of compensation for the events in the past, the LDP explained in the release. The party added that it was up to citizens, parties and political institutions in Bosnia-Herzegovina and its entities to find a political way out of the current situation, while the future Serbian government, as a guarantor of the Dayton Accords, will be obligated to actively participate in the process and take a part of the responsibility for improvement of the situation in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
