PM meets with EU official, U.S. congressmen

EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule said during his meeting with Serbian PM Mirko Cvetkovic that Serbia should continue implementing the adopted laws. Serbia should also make progress in the dialogue with Pristina, said Fule in Belgrade on Monday. PM meets with EU official, U.S. congressmen The Serbian prime minister expressed the expectation that the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue would be continued "as soon as the necessary conditions have been created". Cvetkovic said that Serbia made great progress in its European integration and added that he expected Serbia would get the EU membership candidacy status in December, the government's media relations office said in a release on Monday. The prime minister informed the EU enlargement commissioner about the continuation of the reforms and implementation of the adopted laws and agreements that Serbia had made after obtaining the positive opinion of the European Commission on granting the EU membership candidacy status to the country. Cvetkovic also said that Serbia was fully open for a constructive dialogue with Pristina, especially when it came to practical issues that were of vital importance to the citizens. Fule commended Serbia for the progress made in European integration, pointing out that the EU now expected Serbia to continue with the implementation of the adopted laws and to make progress in the dialogue with Pristina. Also on Monday in Belgadrade, Cvetkovic received a U.S. congressional delegation, to say that Serbia was interested in intensifying the political dialogue and strengthening the relations between Serbia and the United States. Cvetkovic told the visiting congressmen, who are headed by Chairman of the Serbian Caucus Dan Burton, that Serbia’s strategic goal is EU accession. The prime minister also stressed that Serbia is convinced dialogue is the only path to a compromise solution when it comes to Kosovo, the government press service said in a release. He informed them about the reforms Serbia has carried out in the course of its European integration and the current economic situation in the country. The premier "stressed the U.S. is among the biggest foreign investors and there is realistic potential for increasing the investment activities of American companies in Serbia". The Serbian prime minister expressed the expectation that the Belgrade-Priština dialogue would be continued "as soon as the necessary conditions have been created".

Cvetković said that Serbia made great progress in its European integration and added that he expected Serbia would get the EU membership candidacy status in December, the government's media relations office said in a release on Monday.

The prime minister informed the EU enlargement commissioner about the continuation of the reforms and implementation of the adopted laws and agreements that Serbia had made after obtaining the positive opinion of the European Commission on granting the EU membership candidacy status to the country.

Cvetković also said that Serbia was fully open for a constructive dialogue with Priština, especially when it came to practical issues that were of vital importance to the citizens.

Fule commended Serbia for the progress made in European integration, pointing out that the EU now expected Serbia to continue with the implementation of the adopted laws and to make progress in the dialogue with Priština.

Also on Monday in Belgadrade, Cvetković received a U.S. congressional delegation, to say that Serbia was interested in intensifying the political dialogue and strengthening the relations between Serbia and the United States.
