Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said on Thursday in Paris that dialogue can solve all problems related to Kosovo and called for an international conference. It would focus on the legitimate interests of the Serbs and ethnic Albanians in Kosovo, according to him. Minister wants intl. conference on Kosovo He met with his French colleague Claude Gueant, where he stated that any increase in tensions could lead to the situation spiraling out of control. According to Dacic, the Kosovo issue is unlikely to be solved by Serbs and Albanians on their own, without an international conference that would consider the interests of both sides. Serbia has a vital interest in preserving peace in Kosovo, continuing the dialogue and settling any disputes that can be solved only through talks as soon as possible, said Dacic, according to the Interior Ministry. Any increase in tension and incidents into which the Serbs and the international representatives in Kosovo are pushed by the authorities in Pristina can result in the situation spiraling completely out of control, he believes. In view of the "tradition of friendship" between France and Serbia, Dacic continued, France should have more understanding for the Serbian position on this. He completed a two-day visit to France, where he attended the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the Serbian Interior Ministry sector for emergencies and the French directorate general for civil protection.
