President Boris Tadic said that regionalization and decentralization must be central topics of Serbia's policies in the future. He also said that the question of the functionality and stability of the country must not be sacrificed, however. “Decentralization while preserving integrity” “Every regionalization and decentralization must be in accordance with territorial integrity and economic development,” Tadic said. He said that Serbia will move towards regionalization and decentralization, while preserving the state’s integrity, adding that the Democratic Party (DS) will oppose all other countering tendencies. He added that Serbia’s entrance into the EU does not mean backing down from preserving its national interests and that he will go against any minister or DS official that believes otherwise. “I will personally take actions against those that go against the party postulate. While I am the President of Serbia, these policies will be implemented,” Tadic said.
