The Democratic Party of Albanians, led by Ragmi Mustafa, has broken off its coalition agreement in Presevo with Riza Halimi's Party of Democratic Action. This comes only two weeks after the government made official the return of ethnic Albanians to the Coordinating Body for Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, in southern Serbia. Valley Albanian coalition dissolves Mustafa told B92 that there were many reasons to leave the coalition, with Halimi's "self-willed" decision to return to the Body being "the basic reason". "He did it all alone. He did not consult me as a coalition partner, or other Albanian party leaders. In this way we have a Coordinating Body that is supported only by him and his party," Mustafa said of Halimi. The end of the local coalition has spurred talks to form a new one. Halimi, with 13 councilors, needs eight more to form a majority. Ragmi currently has 12, and needs nine more. Their chances are equal as Skedner Destani-led Democratic Union of the Valley, with five councilors, Remzi Zulfiu's citizens' group with four, and Orhan Redzepi's National Movement of Albanians with two, "are at the disposal of both". Our reporter says that "those with insight say that Mustafa will this time form the majority as Halimi has, along with Belgrade, worked and done enough against the interests of Albanians".
