Strategic Marketing's polls show that the Democrats (DS) and the Progressives (SNS) look likely to snap up most seats in two Belgrade municipal assemblies. Extraordinary local elections are expected to be held in Zemun and Vozdovac on May 17. Polls give some insight into party ratings In Zemun, this survey suggests, the two parties will have an equal number of councilors, with 26.2 percent of potential voters backing their candidates. The Radicals (SRS) came in third with 9.6 percent support. However, analysts and party officials say that the results of the municipal elections will not mirror the mood of the voters on the national level. They also believe that local coalitions that might be put together in the wake of the polls should not be understood as an announcement of possible alliances in the country's parliament after the next elections. Analysts also believe that the local elections will be a test for the SNS and the party they broke off from – the SRS. Judging by the results obtained from those who have already decided who to vote for, the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) and the Liberal-Democrats (LDP) will cross the five percent threshold. However, the overall voter population results show the two parties would stay below, with 4.1 and 3.6 percent respectively. The Socialists (SPS) and local citizens' party Movement for Zemun, according to this survey, will not win any seats in the local assembly.
