More soothing statements concerning the security situation in Kosovo came Saturday from the VS and KFOR. Serbian Army (VS) Chief of the General Staff, Lt. Gen. Zdravko Ponos and KFOR commander, Gen. Xavier Bout de Marnhac agreed that the members of the VS and KFOR "will act resolutely in the zones of their responsibility in the event of any security violations". Ponos, De Marnhac: Kosovo under control The two generals concluded, at a meeting in the southern Serbian town of Vranje, that the security situation along the administrative line between Serbia and Kosovo is "under control". Ponos and De Marnhac stressed the importance of regular cooperation between the VS and KFOR at all levels, adding their readiness to continue this in future, the Ministry of Defense said on its website. Ponos yesterday concluded a several-day tour of the south, along with Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac. They visited army bases and personnel in the Land Safety Zone, and spoke to local authorities.
