According to a new survey, 40 percent of Republic of Srpska citizens support extraditing Hague fugitives.

Most Bosnian Serbs back extraditions

According to the poll, conducted by the Strategic Marketing Agency in Bosnia-Herzegovina during June, 55 percent of the 1,699 people surveyed support the extradition of Serbs, Croats and Bosniaks indicted for war crimes by the Hague Tribunal.

According to Banja Luka daily Nezavisne Novine, 41 percent of citiznes are against the extraditions.

In the Republic of Srpska, 28 percent support the work of the Tribunal while 76 percent support the international court in the Bosnia-Herzegovina federation.

Asked whether Tribunal cooperation is vital to the Republic of Srpska, 44 percent said "yes",  while 48 percent doubted its importance.

In the Bosnian Serb entity, 63 percent of people believe that the indictees will not receive a fair trial in The Hague and 73 percent believe that all ethnic groups are not treated equally by the UN court.

There is also a great difference in opinion within the Muslim-Croat Federation and the Republic of Srpska in relation to the Bosnia-Herzegovina aggression and genocide charges against Serbia, where 68 percent of people in the Republic of Srpska believe that the ruling was fair, while 83 percent of citizens living in the Federation disagree.
