Montenegrin police interrogated several relatives of war crimes suspect Radovan Karadžić, his brother said.

Montenegro: Police round up Karadžić's relatives

Bosnian Serb wartime leader Radovan Karadžić was indicted more than a decade ago by the Hague Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia for his role in Bosnia's 1992-95 war.

He is believed to hiding in the Serb-run part of Bosnia or in adjacent Montenegro or Serbia. Efforts by NATO-led troops in Bosnia to capture him have failed.

Luka Karadžić - who was away in Serbia at the time and was not detained - said his relatives were later released but could not provide any information about the suspect's whereabouts.

He accused the police of submitting them to "insane, unnecessary harassment."

There was no immediate comment from Montenegrin police, whose spokesperson was not reachable Sunday.

Luka Karadžić accused Montenegrin authorities of harassing the family.

"The constant surveillance, wiretapping and pressure we are all subjected to have become unbearable," he said. "We might pack up and leave."

Radovan Karadžić has dodged justice since 1995, when he was indicted. He stopped leading the Bosnian Serbs when a peace pact was reached that year among Bosnia's Muslims, Serbs and Croats.

The latest attempt to locate him in Bosnia was last month, when NATO soldiers raided the homes of Radovan Karadžić's daughter, Sonja, and son, Saša.

The other top fugitive is the Bosnian Serb wartime military leader, Gen. Ratko Mladić. The Hague prosecutors believe he is being harbored by hard-liners in Serbia, although the government in Belgrade denies that.

The U.S. government has offered a reward of up to US$ 5mn for information leading to the capture of Karadžić, Mladić or four other suspects still sought by the tribunal.
