Government rejects East Point accusations

Parivodić reacted to accusations coming from East Point, a company that came in second at the bidding for the eastern-Serbia based mining complex.

East Point owner Zoran Drakulić accused some members of the government of having agreed to sell RTB Bor to the Romanian Cuprom for a price lower than that offered in the tender.

According to information presented by Drakulić, Cuprom will allegedly be allowed to make a payment of 320 million instead of the original 400 million dollars.

“Should our competition be enabled to buy RTB Bor for a sum 20 million dollars lower than the one we offered at the tender, we will undertake all legal steps to protect our interests, including a lawsuit against the state all those responsible in the cabinet”, Drakulić was quoted.

Cuprom’s representatives yesterday did not wish to reply to accusations coming from East Point, saying only that “the negotiations went well”.

“That’s all I can say, otherwise I would be breaking the law, which stipulates that members of the tender commission and all other participants in the process must not publicly discuss ongoing talks”, Curpom president Horia Simu told Beta.
