The terrorism suspects, believed to be members of Islamic State, "received their instructions from Syria-based militants," electronic media are reporting, quoting the prosecution. The group also "maintained contacts with persons in Macedonia and Albania who are still at large."

"The suspects planned to carry out terrorist attacks in Kosovo and in the Balkans. They planned to attack various institutions, including security ones," the prosecution specified.

During the arrest operation carried out in Pristina, Kosovska Mitrovica, and Urosevac, the Kosovo police confiscated "material evidence, equipment and other objects."

The suspects are currently being held in investigative 30-day detention.

Tanjug reported on Monday that two more arrests had taken place, as part of the same case. Suspects L.G. and A.M. have been detained on suspicion that they "acted against Kosovo's security and constitutional order."

They are currently held in up to 48-hour custody.
