The trial of 15 Partizan hooligans accused of participating in the murder of French football fan Brice Taton begins today in Belgrade.

The trial of 15 Partizan hooligans accused of participating in the murder of French football fan Brice Taton begins today in Belgrade. The attack on Taton occurred in the center of Belgrade before a match between the Partizan and Toulouse football teams last September. Trial for murder of Frenchman begins Two of the suspects remain fugitives, leader of the so-called Alkatraz hooligan group Djordje Prelic (25) and Dejan Puzigaca (28). It is stated in the indictment that Prelic, Ivan Grkovic (27) and Ljubomir Markovic (29), along with another Alkatraz leader and a leader of the Rebels hooligan group, were responsible for organizing the attack on Taton, who suffered fatal injuries. The indictment states that they called the attackers on their cell phones and ordered the attack. All of the attackers met up on that day, September 17, 2009, in the Terazijski Park, where Puzigac gave them torches and bats and a surgical mask for one attacker Vladan Suvajac (22). Prelic, Markovic, Grkovic and Puzigaca continued to coordinate via cell phones on the French fans, who were sitting outside an Irish pub in downtown Belgrade. The attackers first entered the pub and caused material damage, after which they caught up to a fleeing Taton, assaulted him brutally near the parking garage located close by and threw him down a flight of stairs. Protected eyewitnesses are also expected to testify with their identity being kept secret for safety reasons. The main hearing will not be open to the public. The 15 hooligans will be tried for murder, while one other suspect, Vladimir Boskovic, stands accused for aiding in the murder. Two of the suspects remain fugitives, leader of the so-called Alkatraz hooligan group Đorđe Prelić (25) and Dejan Puzigaća (28).

It is stated in the indictment that Prelić, Ivan Grković (27) and Ljubomir Marković (29), along with another Alkatraz leader and a leader of the Rebels hooligan group, were responsible for organizing the attack on Taton, who suffered fatal injuries.
