Hague accused Momcilo Krajisnik wants to allowed to take a statement from Radovan Karadzic, writes daily Vecernje Novosti. In a submission to the Tribunal, the former Republic of Srpska (RS) speaker, sentenced to 27 years behind bars for war crimes in Bosnia-Hercegovina, and who is awaiting his appeal verdict, stated that on August 21, 2001 (when a big hunt was under way for him), Karadzic had given a statement to an investigator that he had hired for his defense. Krajisnik wants Karadzic testimony In that conversation, the former Bosnian Serb leader described Krajisnik’s role in events that were set forth in the indictment against him, as well as the positions he held. The former RS speaker pointed out that on a previous occasion, on May 26, 2006, he had asked for that statement to be entered into evidence. He added that he had only been interested in the part referring to the RS Presidency’s method of operation. Both the prosecution and the judges rejected Krajisnik’s motion for that testimony to be entered into evidence, claiming that there was no regulation allowing this, and that the statement had been taken from a person that was a “fugitive of high profile”. The former RS speaker’s legal team resubmitted the motion during the appeal. Krajisnik claims that Karadzic’s testimony could have a bearing on the final verdict in his case.
