Vojislav Seselj has referred to the testimony of protected witness VS-1111 regarding war crimes committed by Serb forces in 1992 in Ilijas as “irrelevant.” Most of the witness’ testimony given at the trial of the Serb Radical Party (SRS) leader at Hague Tribunal was closed to the public, in a so-called private conference, which means that the sound from the court was turned off for the public in the gallery. Seselj says witness testimony “irrelevant” In the open part of the trial today, Seselj said that the witness "had a horrible fate, which we are all shocked by.” However, he suggested that the testimony of the protected witness was irrelevant, because it did not provide any link between the crimes and the SRS and himself. “This has been the 23rd witness of the prosecution in the trial, and this link is still non-existent,” Seselj said. Judge Frederik Harhoff also questioned the relevance of the testimony, to which the prosecutor answered that the witness confirmed the June 1992 crimes committed against Muslims in Ilijas, Bosnia, adding that the next witness will link these crimes with the defendant. This witness will take the stand tomorrow. The SRS leader is accused of war crimes against non-Serbs in Croatia, Vojvodina and Bosnia-Herzegovina in 1991-1993.
