Vojislav Seselj says he knows the whereabouts of war crimes fugitives Radovan Karadzic and Ratko Mladic. The Serb Radical Party (SRS) leader moreover told the Hague Tribunal yesterday that he would always sacrifice himself in order to protect them. Seselj claims to know Karadzic, Mladic whereabouts Radical eputy leader Tomislav Nikolic told B92 that Seselj’s views on protecting Karadzic and Mladic would not be binding for him if he took power. “What can Seselj tell me, when I know what he would do,” said Nikolic. The accused said that he could call on Karadzic and Mladic to testify in his defense before the Hague Tribunal, but only if they were guaranteed free passage from Holland after giving evidence. The SRS will once again at these elections be standing under the name “SRS - Vojislav Seselj", and Seselj himself even heads the list. Nikolic, however, denies having access to the same information as his leader. “There is a chance that Seselj knows. But, how am I meant to know? I don’t know where they are. But, if he said that he was constantly informed of their whereabouts, who knows what he meant,” said the SRS deputy leader. He also denied that Seselj’s views bound the SRS to act according to them and carry them out if they won at the elections. “What does Seselj have to say to me, when I know what I’m going to do. It’s not in my interests. I won’t even mention it in the campaign, I’m not even considering building my own policy on the basis of that. How can I chase them, when they’re not in Serbia,” said Nikolic. The SRS deputy leader said that if the two fugitives were in Serbia, President Boris Tadic would already have found them, or, as other fugitives had done, would have voluntarily surrendered to Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica.
