The Serbian delegation and a delegation of the IMF will today reached final agreement on the unfreezing of public sector wages. Salaries and pensions will go up in January 2011 and not as it was previously stated in April 2011, Economy Minister Mladjan Dinkic said. Serbia-IMF on unfreezing of salaries The Belgrade-based media reported earlier that the two parties have already reached agreement on unfreezing of salaries and pensions most likely as of January, but the Ministry of Finance claimed that this is only one of the proposals which will be discussed by the representatives of Serbia and the IMF on Monday and maybe even by the end of the talks that should be completed on August 31. According to a previous announcement, the IMF mission will be in Serbia by Wednesday, and IMF Chief of Mission Albert Jaeger and the representatives of the Serbian government are to inform the public about the outcome of the ongoing talks on Tuesday. The official talks between the Serbian delegation and the IMF representatives on the fifth revision of the stand-by arrangement were launched on August 23. Serbia and the IMF signed the stand-by arrangement amounting approximately EUR 3 billion mid May 2009, and so far Serbia has used about EUR 1.45bn of the funds for strengthening of foreign reserves. The current stand-by arrangement with the IMF will expire in April 2011.
