“Austria to continue to invest in Serbia”

Austrian Vice-Chancellor and Finance Minister Josef Proell said that Austria would continue to invest in Serbia. According to the Serbian government, Proell met with Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic, and told him that Serbia can count on Austria’s support in its European integration. “Austria to continue to invest in Serbia” Cvetkovic said that Serbia is ready to work intensively on the development of its cooperation with Austria. He said that Serbia and Austria have a very high level of economic cooperation and that Austria is the biggest investor in the Serbian industry with over USD 2.8bn of direct investments. “I am sure that the level of cooperation will continue as far as investments are considered, and tha foreign trade exchanges will intensify,” Cvetkovic said. The Serbian Prime Minister reminded that Serbia has submitted its application for gaining candidate status for EU membership, which confirms that the country is dedicated to its European integration. He said that the bilateral agreement signed for avoiding double taxing with Austria is extremely important. Cvetkovic thanked Austria for its strong support of Agenda 2014, adding that he expects that Serbia will make significant progress in its European integration process in 2010.
