Economy Minister Mladjan Dinkic says the central bank (NBS) and its Governor Radovan Jelasic have mechanisms for maintaining the stability of the dinar. This is possible since the hard currency reserves are at their record high, exceeding EUR 10bn, he said. Dinkic: NBS will maintain currency stability Dinkic expressed his conviction that the NBS and his fellow G17 Plus party official, Jelasic, will in the future intervene "more speedily" in case of more drastic fluctuations. "The recent drop in the value of the dinar was a terrible episode which should not be repeated and from which NBS has learned," he said. On December 4, the Serbian dinar (RSD) lost 1.08 percent of its value against the euro, and the central bank intervened with EUR 42mn to maintain the exchange rate stability.

Dinkić expressed his conviction that the NBS and his fellow G17 Plus party official, Jelašić, will in the future intervene "more speedily" in case of more drastic fluctuations.

"The recent drop in the value of the dinar was a terrible episode which should not be repeated and from which NBS has learned," he said.

On December 4, the Serbian dinar (RSD) lost 1.08 percent of its value against the euro, and the central bank intervened with EUR 42mn to maintain the exchange rate stability.
