The Jat Airways tender is due to take place before the summer, says CEO Sasa Vlaisavljevic. The privatization is late because the government needed to remove a number of obstacles before beginning the process, Vlaisavljevic told Blic. Jat Airways tender by end of June The Jat Airways CEO said that the most significant obstacle had been resolving legal issues relating to property between the company, Jat Tehnika, the Flight Control Agency, and Nikola Tesla Airport. “The problem is the transfer of Jat’s founding rights to the state and the most important thing, which me and Minister [Velimir] Ilic signed, was a strategy for Jat’s privatization,” he said. Vlaisavljevic said that the adviser delegated to the government by Rothschild Investment Bank was currently updating the final version of all the reports and analyses with the very latest figures from the first quarter of 2008. “Once the Privatization Agency approves these documents, they will be sent to the government together with the privatization strategy for adoption. Whatever happens, it’s vital that the privatization takes place before the summer, and I’m convinced this will indeed happen,” said the Jat Airways CEO. “As far as price is concerned, quoting figures is a thankless task, but the value of our company on paper is over EUR 120mn,” he said. Yesterday, it was reported that Jat Airways had received a license for civil air travel from the Croatian government for direct flights from Belgrade to Pula, Beta reports unofficially. Restoration of the Belgrade-Pula route means that air traffic between Serbia and Croatia will resume, having been cut off during the conflicts of the 1990s and the collapse of the former Yugoslavia. The first flight from Belgrade to Pula will take off on July 3, and, by July 31, Jat Airways plans to establish two flights a week, on Thursday and Sunday, Beta reports. Tickets will be available for purchase starting today.
