Serb member of Kosovo assembly dies in accident

Velimir Rakic from Socanica, a member of the Kosovo assembly from the Srpska (Serb) List, died late on Wednesday in a car crash.

The traffic accident occurred near a gas station at the entrance to Leposavic, in northern Kosovo.

The local TV Most broadcaster said that the car he was traveling in collided with "a freight vehicle."

The 63-year-old succumbed to his injuries in the hospital in Kosovska Mitrovica.

Rakic was a deputy from the Movement of Socialists on the Srpska List ticket.

The Serb list has nine representatives in the Kosovo assembly.
