Inzko to RS leadership: One week to cancel referendum

High Representative for Bosnia-Herzegovina Valentin Inzko has repeated that he has given a week to the Republic of Srpska (RS) leadership to cancel referendum. He told Sarajevo-based TV1 that he did not believe that the referendum would be held and that nobody wanted to confront the entire international community. Inzko to RS leadership: One week to cancel referendum Inzko pointed out that Head of the European External Action Service (EEAS) for Russia, Eastern Neighborhood and the Western Balkans Miroslav Lajcak during his visit to Banja Luka had told RS President Milorad Dodik that Europe did not want to treat him as Alexander Lukashenko, but that it would if the RS authorities decided to hold the referendum after all. “Measures that the EU could take are freezing the politicians’ bank accounts, stopping infrastructure projects and boycotting politicians that would be under sanctions by the European countries’ governments and denying EU aid to Bosnia-Herzegovina’s budget which currently totals almost 200mn convertible marks,” the high representative stressed. He repeated that the RS had exceeded its constitutional framework and that it had no right to make decisions on the level of the entire Bosnia-Herzegovina.
