He reiterated that Serbia will "never recognize the unilateral independence of Kosovo."

"I am trying to propose a lasting solution because it is based on a compromise between historical and ethnic rights, that implies a delineation of what is Serb and what is Albanian," Dacic told RTS.

He said that by his proposal, Serbia and the Serbs "get something - because it is about delineation, not partition."

"There is a possibility of a permanent settlement - and in those places where the Serbs live, that will never be an independent Kosovo. It could, with tanks," Dacic said.

He said that there was no permanent solution for Kosovo without an agreement with Serbia and added that Kosovo would never become a member of the UN.

"We have not established borders even with Bosnia-Herzegovina, let alone with some creation that calls itself an independent Kosovo," the (first) deputy prime minister of Serbia said, according to Beta.

Dacic added that attitudes are coming from Pristina according to which the dialogue has been launched to allow Serbia to recognize Kosovo.

"On behalf of the government and the president of Serbia - we will never recognize the unilateral independence of Kosovo," said he.

Dacic also assessed that there was no reason for the international community "not to recognize his proposal" because it was about reaching an agreement, not about using force.

The minister concluded that there was "not much time" to solve the Kosovo issue and that "we should do as much as possible, as long as it can be done."
