CeSID: Some 15,000 signatures have been falsified

Speaking for the Belgrade-based TV Pink, Klacar said that incidents with forgeries "really do not look like the work of an individual."Speaking about the 10,000 forged signatures submitted by the Republican Party, as determined by the Republic Electoral Commission (RIK), Klacar said that "just anyone" should not be allowed to enter the election process, while "certain conditions" should be established.
According to him, these criminal acts are new in Serbia, "although there have been the cases of certain parties attempting to enter parliament by exploiting the flaws in regulations."
Klacar believes that RIK will have to resort to "emergency regulations" in order to resolve the situation around falsified signatures.
As for the campaign thus far, this Center for Free Elections and Democracy official described it as "lukewarm, without any major issues and conflicts, with few substantiated debates, with rarely anyone daring to come out with firm positions."
Asked why ballot papers printed for provincial elections in Vojvodina cost RSD 17, twice as mush as those for parliamentary elections, Klacar replied that RIK and the Provincial Election Commission "obviously printed on different material and cooperated with the different institutions. "
According to him, "it is not realistic for five parties" to cross the 5-percent threshold and win seats in the National Assembly. He added that "surprises are expected there."
Klacar said that CeSID will make up ten percent of the total number of observers at polling stations, but will not be present in Kosovo and Metohija "because it is not allowed."
