Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic said Saturday the most important thing was to maintain peace in Kosovo despite "KFOR and EULEX's illegal operation". "An illegal, illegitimate operation of EULEX and KFOR is under way, which did not get an adequate mandate for the operation from the international community and the organizations which sent them," Jeremic stressed. Peace must be maintained in Kosovo – foreign minister According to him, the UN Security Council session on Thursday showed there was inadequate support for the operation, which was why one part of the debate was closed to the public at the insistence of the U.S. “The operation is also being carried out without the support of many EU member countries,” the foreign minister added. "The EU did not make a political decision to carry out this operation. Some important EU member countries told me clearly they do not support the operation," Jeremic underscored. He also reiterated that the operation and changing the situation on the ground was "illegitimate and unacceptable for our country, people and the government, especially for the people living in Kosovo." Noting that the situation in Kosovo was currently "peaceful, but unstable," Jeremic said "peace must be maintained." "We will continue to offer resistance, but we must keep our cool and stay committed to the diplomatic fight," he said, noting that the UN Security Council session was not the last measure Serbia plans to take. "We remain in close contact with those who support us, as well as those who have opposing views. We need to maintain peace. The Serbian people realize the importance of this moment, they are calm and do not intend to fall provocations," Jeremic concluded. Vuk Jeremic
