Serbia is China's reliable partner in Southeast Europe, Ambassador of China to Belgrade Wei Jinghua has said. Ambassador Wei told Tanjug that after the establishment of strategic partnership in 2009, the relations between the two countries had gathered great momentum. "The relations between our two countries stood the test of history and can be considered permanent," Wei underscored. China considers Serbia to be its consistently reliable partner in South East Europe, and Serbia sees China as one of the four pillars of its diplomacy, the ambassador said, adding that he deeply believes in the future of the relations with Serbia. Speaking about economic cooperation between the two countries, Wei said that in recent years, progress had been considerable when it came to large projects, but the problem was the low value of trade. "We encourage and support Chinese enterprises to invest in Serbia and to participate in infrastructure and energy development and road construction, he underlined. Furthermore, we welcome the cooperation between enterprises of the two countries in areas of high and new technology and green economy," added the Chinese ambassador. China has always considered the Kosovo issue as important for peace, security and stability in the Balkans and across Europe, Wei said, adding that the issue can only be solved through negotiations between the parties in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 1244.
