The War Crimes Prosecution has brought charges against Sasa Djilerdzic and Goran Savic from Kraljevo. They have been charged with committing atrocities against civilians in Zvornik in 1992, reads the indictment. Zvornik volunteers charged with war crimes According to the indictment, between May and July 1992, Djilerdzic and Savic, as volunteers in the Zvornik territorial defense, inhumanly treated Muslim civilians at the Ekonomija farm and Ciglana factory. Savic is charged with the murder of one person. The suspects, who initially used the prisoners for the purposes of forced labor and ordered them to plunder abandoned Muslim and Serb houses for their own profit, subsequently led them out of the Ciglana factory, the indictment states, adding that furniture, televisions, refrigerators and other stolen items, hidden with goods from the factory, were then transported to Serbia. In the Ekonomija slaughterhouse, the accused hit, kicked and tortured the civilians they had brought there, taking their gold jewelry, and telling them, ”You won’t need this any more,” the indictment continues. It is stressed that Djilerdzic and Savic directly helped the perpetrators in committing inhumane and brutal acts, as well as in the liquidation of the prisoners. Seven other individuals have been on trial at the Belgrade District Court War Crimes Chamber for the Zvornik-1 and Zvornik-2 cases, relating to the same crimes, since November 2005. Branko Grujic, Branko Popovic, Dusko Vuckovic, Dragan Slavkovic, Ivan Korac, Sinisa Filipovic and Dragutin Dricevic are accused of crimes against civilians at the Ekonomija and Ciglana complexes.
