Science Minister Bozidar Djelic says that no less than EUR 44,000 will be set aside for scientific research this year. “In these difficult times for the budget, it is important to ensure that knowledge is at the top of the list of priorities for our country,” Djelic told a ceremony marking the opening of the International Year of Astronomy in Serbia. Djelic: More funds for science He said that scientists needed to be given good enough reasons to make Serbia their base, and to always be able to return to Serbia regardless of were they were working or gaining experience. Djelic added that although the economic crisis was currently preventing greater budget investments, science should be ensured multiple sources of finance to enable progress in all the scientific disciplines.
