Dear posters, do not get so negative! 44,000 Euros could suffice for a cute, tiny, studio somewhere on the outskirts of Belgrade to house some visiting researcher. And to put it in an highly economical use, and reap the benefits of the investments, you rotate the researchers on a monthly bases. You see?

How many zeroes were left out? I suspect, it's 44 mils, not 44 grand.

And was the name spelled right? Because maybe it was Qemajl Mustafa, the mayor of Gnjilane who did allocate 44000 Euros for local R&D in municipality. But I guess, even that budget would be objected by locals.... 2-3 web administrators and servers would eat up 44000 Euro instantly even in a small municipality in rural Kosovo.

Is this a joke or a misprint by B92?

44,000 Euro's might as well be nothing. Even 440,000 Euro's is a tiny budget.

If this is Serbia's idea of investment in it's scientific base then Serbia has NO future whatsoever.

Why don't they fire some of their corrupt MP's and use their salaries as part of the budget?

At a budget of 44,000 euros, I don't think Serbia is going to see an influx of scientists to the country, considering that would not cover the salary of one in the west, and nothing left for equipment or assistants.
