BELGRADE Islamic Community in Bosnia-Herzegovina Chief Mufti Mustafa Ceric said during his visit to the U.S. that the Dayton Accords should be scrapped. Ceric openly spoke of Bosnia-Herzegovina’s internal and foreign political goals. “Dayton Accords should be scrapped” “Bosniak people survived genocide and the Dayton Constitution, which has elements of apartheid and discrimination, was imposed on them,” he stressed. The mufti noted that “Bosniaks’ political thoughts are trapped in the vortex of inter-party conflicts, corruption and poverty”. “All this is a reality that Bosniaks live in but on the other hand, Bosniaks today have the best opportunity to freely and decisively, with their own mind, without orders from Belgrade, Vienna, Istanbul, think about their own priorities, make a plan and start realizing it,” he explained. The Republic of Srpska (RS) politicians say this is a continuation of Ceric’s radical policy whose main goal is to annul the Dayton Accords and abolish the RS. Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) MP Stasa Kosarac told Belgrade-based daily Vecernje novosti that an “unseen level of hatred toward Serbs and the RS” was visible in every Ceric’s statement. “We clearly see that Bosniak religious-political leadership is calling for destabilization of the country and a state of emergency with such radical statements in order to open up a possibility for an international intervention and change the country’s Dayton Constitution. Ceric and his political followers in Sarajevo are destroying Bosnia,” Kosarac pointed out. Democratic People's Alliance (DNS) MP Petar Kunic claims that attacks on the country’s Dayton structure are dangerous. “Bosnia-Herzegovina basically can only survive on Dayton principles. The Dayton Accords is a guarantee of its survival and every violation of its Constitution could radicalize and destabilize the political situation in the country,” he concluded.
