Vucic and Seselj hold "first meeting in eight years"

Seselj spoke to reporters afterwards, revealing that he told Vucic the Radicals (SRS) were ready for cooperation and for a coalition agreement if Vucic and his government abandoned their policy of Serbia's EU accession, and instead turned to integration with Russia.

"A solution could be found for everything if the EU (membership) were to be abandoned, and I insisted on it. That is the abyss between us that cannot be crossed without a change of the government's policy," Seselj said, noting that Vucic was "disappointed" to hear this stance.

According to the SRS leader, they also discussed various other topics, "mostly economic," while Vucic presented the essence of his future cabinet's economic policy. Seselj added he would state his opinion on that policy when Vucic presents it in the National Assembly.

Asked how he perceived his first meeting with Vucic in eight years, Seselj said that it seemed like they were encountering and meeting each other for the first time.

Vucic, and now Serbia's president, Tomislav Nikolic, were high-ranking officials of Seselj's party who in 2008 formed the Serb Progressive Party (SNS), after an acrimonious split from the SRS.
