NOVI SAD The deputy head of the SNS party group in parliament has said that PM Ivica Dacic, who also serves as interior minister, should relinquish the latter office. Zoran Babic told the Novi Sad-based daily Dnevnik that Dacic should follow the example of his first deputy and SNS leader Aleksandar Vucic, who said he would be stepping down as defense minister. "Dacic should give up his interior ministry portfolio" "If Vucic said that he cannot serve as both the first deputy prime minister and defense minister and achieve the results he expected, then I'm sure the prime minister should follow that example," Babic was quoted as saying. This SNS official also believes that while Dacic should do his job as prime minister, "somebody should work in the full capacity at the Ministry of the Interior." "I believe that everything the SNS has done in the past month and during the last main board should be the yardstick and the way in which our government partners should behave," said Babic. Leaders of Serbia's ruling parties held a four-hour meeting in Belgrade on Monday to discuss the cabinet reshuffle, and are meeting again on Tuesday. Meanwhile the media are reporting that URS leader and Finance and Economy Minister Mladjan Dinkic's agreement to have his ministry split in two may not be enough to secure his presence in the reshuffled cabinet.
