The War Crimes Prosecution says there is no basis to suspect that Serbian Army Chief of the General Staff Gen. Ljubisa Dikovic is responsible for war crimes. “The Prosecution has looked into the allegations presented by the Fund for Humanitarian Law investigating all files on war crimes which the Fund mentioned in Dikovic's case, and determined that there is no basis for suspicion of Dikovic's criminal responsibility for war crimes,” the War Crimes Prosecution said on Wednesday. Prosecution: Army chief not responsible for crimes “If Dikovic had been suspected of war crimes in Kosovo and Metohija in 1998 and 1999, the Hague Tribunal would have launched a procedure in line with its competence and practice,” the statement added. In a release for the media issued on Monday, the Fund for Humanitarian Law challenged the eligibility of the newly-appointed VS chief of the general staff and submitted a file on the alleged war crimes he committed against Albanian civilians. Serbian Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac qualified Tuesday the Fund's file as completely false and underlined that prior to Dikovic's appointment, competent bodies had performed all necessary checks as regards his work.
