Opposition SNS deputy leader Aleksandar Vucic has denied that his party and the ruling Democrats (RS) are cooperating. He told B92 in Belgrade late on Thursday that the two parties - consistently topping the polls as the country's most popular - are "most fierce possible political opponents". Opposition party denies cooperation with DS "We cannot cooperate with those who have destroyed the Serbian economy," said Vucic. He also denied there were contacts between the two parties, "other than personal and friendly contacts". Asked why making contact or a possible post-election coalition between SNS and DS would be viewed as problematic, Vucic said that his party was "not running away from making contact, it was seeking contact". "We asked to talk to the authorities, publicly, in front of cameras," he explained. The opposition party, its deputy leader pointed out, already had "certain agreements with New Serbia" and some parties not represented in parliament, while they were starting to talk to those representing ethnic minorities. Vucic also expressed belief that Vojislav Kosunica's DSS would join this bloc. The SNS official also spoke about the party's rally, planned for February 4 in Belgrade, and said it could be postponed for one day "due to security and other organizational reasons".
