Hague Tribunal Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz has arrived in Belgrade to meet with officials in charge of Serbia’s cooperation with the court. B92 understands that Brammertz is due to meet with Interior Minister Ivica Dacic and President Boris Tadic today. On Friday, he will meet with War Crimes Prosecutor Vladimir Vukcevic and his associates. Brammertz arrives in Belgrade President of the National Council for Hague Cooperation Rasim Ljajic said that no great expectations should be placed around Brammertz’s visit, as it is just a regular working visit. He added that Brammertz would be brought up to speed on progress in the search for the remaining Hague fugitives. One of the topics of discussion with the prosecutor will be the government’s proposal to allow those convicted of crimes before the Tribunal to serve their sentences in Serbian prisons. The only obstacle in unfreezing the Stabilization and Association Agreement and the Interim Trade Agreement between Serbia and the European Union is the completion of cooperation with the Hague. He added that Brammertz would be brought up to speed on progress in the search for the remaining Hague fugitives.

One of the topics of discussion with the prosecutor will be the government’s proposal to allow those convicted of crimes before the Tribunal to serve their sentences in Serbian prisons.

The only obstacle in unfreezing the Stabilization and Association Agreement and the Interim Trade Agreement between Serbia and the European Union is the completion of cooperation with the Hague.
