The Kosovo government’s attempts at lobbying for independence have been a failure, says opposition DSD MP Adem Salihaj. The Democratic Union of Dardanija (DSD) official told a specially-organized news conference that the lobbying process has been plagued by incompetence, opportunism, and total irresponsibility. "Lobbying efforts complete failure" “As a result of incompetence, opportunism, and total irresponsibility, the government’s attempts at lobbying for Kosovo independence have been a complete failure,” said Salihaj, accusing Prime Minister Hashim Thaci of pompously and off-handedly predicting that 100 countries would recognize the province straight after the independence declaration. “Thus far, five months after Kosovo’s declaration of independence, only 43 countries have recognized,” he said. According to the DSD MP, a completely incompetent individual had been appointed as the province’s minister for foreign affairs, and that he was to blame for the poor results. Salihaj accused the government of also doing a bad job when it came to selecting Kosovo’s state symbols, even though one of the members of the commission tasked with that job had been a DSD member.
