OBRENOVAC The police have started an investigation against unknown perpetrators who on Wednesday set a barrack on fire to prevent asylum seekers from moving in. The incident happened in the village of Usce, near Obrenovac, southwest of Belgrade. Facility burned to prevent asylum seekers from moving in The government decided that the asylum seekers, coming mostly from Asian and African countries, were to be relocated there as a temporary solution. But locals in the villages blocked a road on Wednesday to prevent the buses from passing, saying that the presence of the asylum seekers in their area made them "fear for their safety and security." The facility that was completely destroyed in the fire spread on 400 sq meters and contained 20 improvised rooms. The Beta news agency said it received confirmation that the fire, which broke out around 23:10 CET last night, was the work of arsonists. Later in the day, the police said that they had one suspect in custody. The asylum seekers are now staying in a hotel in Obrenovac until a solution is found for their accommodation.
