BELGRADE Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Vincent Degert has stated that there are good reasons for optimism regarding a decision on Serbia's EU talks date. “Over the past four years, Serbia has made great progress on its EU path, overcoming many obstacles, such as fully meeting all the requirements arising from the cooperation with the international war crimes tribunal in The Hague,” Degert said on Thursday. “There is reason to be optimistic about talks date” He expressed satisfaction with the results of the dialogue on the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina. “Serbia is a country in transition, facing very big challenges in having to implement a number of difficult reforms, but it is still making steady progress towards the EU,” he said. “I am confident that there are good reasons for optimism about the possibility that the European Council sets a date for the start of Serbia's accession talks in June,” concluded Degert.
