WASHINGTON U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Philip Reeker has a consultative role in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, Tanjug learned in the U.S. State Department. State Department Spokesman Patrick Ventrell expressed regret on behalf of the U.S. on Friday that Serbia rejected the draft agreement in Brussels, and added that the EU would continue working on this matter. “Reeker only provides consultative assistance” When asked whether the media allegations were true that Reeker and former Assistant Secretary of State Philip Gordon, who now works as Obama's advisor for Middle East, were in contact with the Serbian government and were exerting pressure so Belgrade would sign the agreement, Ventrell said that Reeker “is only providing consultative assistance”. The Serbian government rejected the agreement offered in Brussels on April 2 as Pristina did not agree to grant the community of Serb municipalities any executive powers.
