Serbian FM meets with Israeli president

BELGRADE Serbian FM Jovan Mrkic met with Israeli President Shimon Peres in Jerusalem on Monday and to discuss "all aspects of cooperation between the two countries". This cooperation, the two officials said, was characterized by "a long and steady friendship between the Serbian and Israeli people". Serbian FM meets with Israeli president Mrkic informed Peres, whose country has not recognized Kosovo's unilaterally proclaimed independence, about the latest developments in the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina. Peres "presented Israel's views about developments in the region and the world and about perspectives for global development", the Serbian Foreign Ministry said in a release. “We fully agreed that Serbia and Israel have firm ties and excellent cooperation. He added that Peres had conveyed friendly greetings to the Serbian president, adding that Nikolic was looking forward to responding to the invitation by the president of Israel and the leadership of that country and visiting Jerusalem. Mrkić informed Peres, whose country has not recognized Kosovo's unilaterally proclaimed independence, about the latest developments in the dialogue between Belgrade and Priština.

Peres "presented Israel's views about developments in the region and the world and about perspectives for global development", the Serbian Foreign Ministry said in a release.

“We fully agreed that Serbia and Israel have firm ties and excellent cooperation. I informed Peres about Serbia's current situation and its goals concerning both internal and foreign affairs,” Mrkić said in a statement to Tanjug.

He added that Peres had conveyed friendly greetings to the Serbian president, adding that Nikolić was looking forward to responding to the invitation by the president of Israel and the leadership of that country and visiting Jerusalem.
