The new ruling majority is planning on forming an office for Kosovo. DS, DSS request ministry instead of office for Kosovo DS and DSS MPs and outgoing and former Ministers for Kosovo Goran Bogdanovic and Slobodan Samardzic believe that closing of the ministry will not bring anything good bearing in mind challenges Serbia is facing. At the beginning of a debate on the bills on the government, the ministries and security services, Bogdanovic said that the Ministry for Kosovo had worked for the previous five years. He believes that it should remain active, especially since Serbia is facing “enormous challenges” when it comes to Kosovo. “We have heard that the office will have the same authority, so the question is why other ministries are not offices as well,” Bogdanovic stressed and called on the ruling coalition to keep the special ministry for Kosovo. He also touched on the issue of the ministry’s employees, explaining that they would lose their jobs. Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) deputy whip Jorgovanka Tabakovic stressed that they would be reassigned. The DSS also believes that the Ministry for Kosovo should not be closed and DSS whip Samardzic said that it could have numerous negative effects bearing in mind that the Kosovo was the biggest problem in the country. “That is why it should have a special treatment and it can only be a special ministry,” he explained.
